Threshold of Corner Bungalow

I can’t believe I am writing a post about my back porch. After going to our always fun and exciting National Night out Tuesday, I realized  how much our neighbors have kept a close eye on our corner bungalow over the years. After adding boulders and landscaping to the back yard, a new kitchen, garage siding (after finding out people would slide into our garage decades ago… the reason our stucco was falling off the alley side) ,a new roof, windows, exterior paint, putting in an extensive veggie garden in the front yard, and soon a new chimney (as our contractor calls it the leaning tower of Piesa). I know there have been many more updates I just can’t capture in words. All I can say is I am glad we are finally able to take a break and enjoy our neighborhood strolls while keeping an eye on all the additions and updates as our neighbors did with our home. I can  lay down that ever deserving welcome mat at our back door family and friends call the threshold of our  corner bungalow.

Corner Bungalow Gets a Facelift

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. For the past 2 years, our charming little corner bungalow has undergone enormous surgery’s, with the last one being a facelift. Most unexpected and dire needed updates had to occur to save our home and sanity.

We were eager to get our house painted mainly to seal the exterior. The Deep Smoke color added a dark rick allure to our home. Our garage also underwent a new re-siding job as it was not worth the labor to re-stucco (and most of it had already fallen off).

I can finally say, I feel at ease with all the needed changes and can relax and enjoy the summer sun and garden crop in the coming months.

Corner Bungalow and Zenith City Indie Wedding Show

I am beyond excited to announce that Corner Bungalow will be a vendor at the Zenith City Indie Wedding Show this upcoming weekend 4/29/12 in Duluth MN! I have been making pretty bridal and bridesmaid hair flowers and my new tartan plaids just got shipped from Scotland today for the neckties! I will be whipping up  some handsome ties just in the nick of time for Sunday. This is my first show being a ‘vendor’ and not a bride! I can’t wait to talk to the lovely brides and grooms-to-be.

My amazing husband has offered up, well I pretty much begged him to help…well the conversation went like this.

Me: ‘I would love if you could come help me with the show, it will be really fun, plus you can run the necktie side of Corner Bungalow.’

Nick: ‘What do I get out of this deal?’

Me: ‘What do you want?’

Nick: ‘To go on any climbing trip I want over Memorial day’

Me: Deal

Nick: I have already planned a trip to Red Rock.

So that being said,  Zenith will have both of us there! Nick will be a rock-star like he always is and will be sporting a new tartan tie as well.

This past weekend has been a flurry to get things prepped! My very lovely sister, pregnant with twins, even modeled the 20 + new items I will be adding to Corner Bungalow! I can’t wait to give a recap next week after the event. I am sure the night will just fly by. The show is not your typical bridal fair, but more a night out with your guy while planning your big day. I feel so honored to be apart of the amazing night!

Wedding: Bridal Party

Being surrounded by our closest friends and family in the bridal party made our wedding day even more special. Each and every person means the world to us in the below photos that I could not have imagined it any other way. The blues, yellow, and Dundee tartan all compliment each other so well with the flowers adding another layer to wrap it all together.

Dawn from AppleBlossom Flowers did an exquisite job. Let’s take a look back at what she had to work with, growing wedding flowers. A few days before  the big day, we walked my little baby succulents I had been growing for over a year to her studio, this was their day to shine too!  She is truly a genius when it comes to floral design and the photos depict it clearly. I even took my bouquet on our honeymoon because I could not stand the thought of leaving the beauty behind for a whole week.

Ensuring the bridal party could take away a piece of this day and carry that memory with them when tieing the knot in the tie they wear to work or clipping the fabric flower onto a bag or belt was really my vision. The second to last photo truly captures our personalities. Your wedding day should be fun and carefree and Jaime captures us perfectly.

Wedding: Bride and Groom

I just love the below photos, they truly capture our wedding day filled with happiness. Here are a few of the select favorite of Nick and I as bride and groom.

Getting married at the James J Hill Reference library was the perfect location. Living in the heart of historic St Paul we wanted to make sure our wedding day captured our unique style. The library did just that, the clean modern lines of the building, marble floor, marble floor to ceiling pillars, and arts and craft decor matched perfectly our vision for this special day…not to mention made a great backdrop for beautiful photos.

New Wool Neckties added to Corner Bungalow

After making 9 neckties for our wedding , check out post here, and getting some requests to make additional ties mainly from Nick, my husband; I thought they would be a great addition to my little Corner Bugalow Etsy shop.  Check them out! I LOVE LOVE LOVE making items with wool, and they look just beautiful! I just opened shop a month or so ago and I am very excited to where this little journey will take me.
