Wedding: Reception Magic

Over the last year, I have been able to pull together a small selection of photos that captured our wedding. Ending with the reception, this will be the last post of the Schleder wedding….for now that is! The mustard yellow table numbers, the glitter ‘Mr’ and ‘Mrs’ signs, to the bittersweet in the vases and everything in between was well thought out and executed perfectly by our vendors who have now become friends.

Seeing the emotion and happiness in the photos will always bring me back to that magical day. I love seeing my parents and how happy they are especially my proud dad during his speech! He gave me the greatest gift any girl could have asked for, after decades of smoking he made a promise to stop by the wedding and did an amazing job and it shows in the photos below. I only hope it will continue!

The reception like all other weddings was the ‘life’ of the wedding. Saying the celebration was a dance party would be an understatement. From my little 3-year-old nephew who threw down moves he most likely learned from his daddy to the dance off’s and groom’s sweat dripping off his shirt after I rung it out the next day! We even had friends and family tell us later they were sore from dancing all night!

If I could pick one special moment from the reception, I would choose the very last song. Our DJ, who was amazing btw thanks to the groom’s meticulous guidance and playlists  played ‘Piano Man’ by Billy Joel. The remaining crew that was still at the wedding gathered around us in a large circle while my handsome husband spun me around the dance floor. Seeing all of our amazing friends and family swaying from side to side around us made me burst with happiness and love. I feel truly grateful and blessed to have been able to celebrate our marriage exactly how I always dreamed it would be.

Wedding: ‘I Do’ Ceremony

I cannot believe that our 1 year anniversary is FAST approaching…well 3 months away. Below are the wonderful photos captured of our wedding ceremony. Seeing Nick at the end of the ‘aisle’ automatically triggered the biggest smile on my face. The photo of my mom below brings tears to my eyes just seeing how much love she has for her ‘little tiny baby’; that would be me! I am the last one of my brother and sister to get married. They should be very proud of how they have shaped us into young adults.

I could not believe this day finally arrived, and I was going to officially marry my best friend the one who always brings a laugh and smile to my face. I love that our ceremony was truly us. The stories our pastor shared and the continuous  love throughout the room is exactly how I will remember this day.

Wedding: Family Photos

What a flurry the past few months have been! Lots of fun and exciting events occurring at Corner Bungalow. I however, must finish our wedding story first!

Our wedding day would not have occurred without our family below. Nick and I are eternally grateful for the foundation our parents built for us. They have truly been our inspiration for our lives ahead. My dad has this great quote in his office…

“Always behave like a duck – keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath ” ~Jacob Braude

I have always found this quote to bring a smile to my face and even shared it with friends and colleagues as it is totally true!

Ours parents have instilled the belief you have to work for what you want; you will then truly understand the value of what you have.  For example…Knowing that everything would be ok when we had to tap into the wedding fund which became the emergency fund when our 1925 bungalow needed  some (well a lot ) of unexpected TLC while planning the wedding.

Having a strong worth ethic and passion for what you love is what I will ensure is also instill into our children one day…years to come.   No matter the circumstances our parents and family will always be there for us as will we for them over this lifetime.

Love your family with all your heart…

Wedding: Bridal Party

Being surrounded by our closest friends and family in the bridal party made our wedding day even more special. Each and every person means the world to us in the below photos that I could not have imagined it any other way. The blues, yellow, and Dundee tartan all compliment each other so well with the flowers adding another layer to wrap it all together.

Dawn from AppleBlossom Flowers did an exquisite job. Let’s take a look back at what she had to work with, growing wedding flowers. A few days before  the big day, we walked my little baby succulents I had been growing for over a year to her studio, this was their day to shine too!  She is truly a genius when it comes to floral design and the photos depict it clearly. I even took my bouquet on our honeymoon because I could not stand the thought of leaving the beauty behind for a whole week.

Ensuring the bridal party could take away a piece of this day and carry that memory with them when tieing the knot in the tie they wear to work or clipping the fabric flower onto a bag or belt was really my vision. The second to last photo truly captures our personalities. Your wedding day should be fun and carefree and Jaime captures us perfectly.

Wedding: Bride and Groom

I just love the below photos, they truly capture our wedding day filled with happiness. Here are a few of the select favorite of Nick and I as bride and groom.

Getting married at the James J Hill Reference library was the perfect location. Living in the heart of historic St Paul we wanted to make sure our wedding day captured our unique style. The library did just that, the clean modern lines of the building, marble floor, marble floor to ceiling pillars, and arts and craft decor matched perfectly our vision for this special day…not to mention made a great backdrop for beautiful photos.

Wedding: Bride and Groom First Look

The time was finally here…I was about to see Nick all handsome and groomed-out. Jaime, our photographer, had him facing the wall so on a count of three he could turn around and see me for the first time as a bride. I just wanted to run right over to him and say ‘look at me’ !! I was beyond excited for this moment.

I felt absolutely beautiful and knew my soon to be husband would think so too! My dress was a stunning design by Amy Michelson in silk charmeuse. It felt like butter and was über comfortable! I could not wait for Nick to see me. He knew I found my dress at a sample sale for a fraction of the cost, which is insane because you cannot even buy the amount of silk charmeause to make my dress for the cost I paid! I kept telling him it was a big puffy ball gown dress…when it was quite the opposite.

Quick description of my sample sale experience…while we were in a scramble trying on dress after dress at the sale with no success, I was about to call it a day…when all of a sudden, I saw my mom out of the corner of my eye swiftly snatch a gown from a rack a soon-to-be bride just discarded. As soon as I put it on, that was it, no questions asked, everyone around agreed my mom was about to buy her little girl’s wedding dress. This dress was MADE for me, after getting it all cleaned, the only alteration needed was a hem, which for a bridal  gown is unheard of!

Back to the actual moment…The photos below are one of my favorite sequences of the entire day. Just noticed there was a bee or a bug right in front of my face, look closely at the photo below of me looking at him. Glad that did not interfere with the action!

I LOVE the expression on Nick’s face when he first saw me! I think most bride and groom’s in the scenario probably start to cry, but it is quite apparent we are both fun and light-hearted and started to laugh in happiness…reference bottom right photo. I could not stop myself from admiring what a stud Nick looked like in his attire, which he also felt the same way checking out my steal of deal gorgeous dress.

From this moment on, my life just became that much sweeter…
