Wedding: Reception Magic

Over the last year, I have been able to pull together a small selection of photos that captured our wedding. Ending with the reception, this will be the last post of the Schleder wedding….for now that is! The mustard yellow table numbers, the glitter ‘Mr’ and ‘Mrs’ signs, to the bittersweet in the vases and everything in between was well thought out and executed perfectly by our vendors who have now become friends.

Seeing the emotion and happiness in the photos will always bring me back to that magical day. I love seeing my parents and how happy they are especially my proud dad during his speech! He gave me the greatest gift any girl could have asked for, after decades of smoking he made a promise to stop by the wedding and did an amazing job and it shows in the photos below. I only hope it will continue!

The reception like all other weddings was the ‘life’ of the wedding. Saying the celebration was a dance party would be an understatement. From my little 3-year-old nephew who threw down moves he most likely learned from his daddy to the dance off’s and groom’s sweat dripping off his shirt after I rung it out the next day! We even had friends and family tell us later they were sore from dancing all night!

If I could pick one special moment from the reception, I would choose the very last song. Our DJ, who was amazing btw thanks to the groom’s meticulous guidance and playlists  played ‘Piano Man’ by Billy Joel. The remaining crew that was still at the wedding gathered around us in a large circle while my handsome husband spun me around the dance floor. Seeing all of our amazing friends and family swaying from side to side around us made me burst with happiness and love. I feel truly grateful and blessed to have been able to celebrate our marriage exactly how I always dreamed it would be.

Wedding: ‘I Do’ Ceremony

I cannot believe that our 1 year anniversary is FAST approaching…well 3 months away. Below are the wonderful photos captured of our wedding ceremony. Seeing Nick at the end of the ‘aisle’ automatically triggered the biggest smile on my face. The photo of my mom below brings tears to my eyes just seeing how much love she has for her ‘little tiny baby’; that would be me! I am the last one of my brother and sister to get married. They should be very proud of how they have shaped us into young adults.

I could not believe this day finally arrived, and I was going to officially marry my best friend the one who always brings a laugh and smile to my face. I love that our ceremony was truly us. The stories our pastor shared and the continuous  love throughout the room is exactly how I will remember this day.

Wedding: Family Photos

What a flurry the past few months have been! Lots of fun and exciting events occurring at Corner Bungalow. I however, must finish our wedding story first!

Our wedding day would not have occurred without our family below. Nick and I are eternally grateful for the foundation our parents built for us. They have truly been our inspiration for our lives ahead. My dad has this great quote in his office…

“Always behave like a duck – keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath ” ~Jacob Braude

I have always found this quote to bring a smile to my face and even shared it with friends and colleagues as it is totally true!

Ours parents have instilled the belief you have to work for what you want; you will then truly understand the value of what you have.  For example…Knowing that everything would be ok when we had to tap into the wedding fund which became the emergency fund when our 1925 bungalow needed  some (well a lot ) of unexpected TLC while planning the wedding.

Having a strong worth ethic and passion for what you love is what I will ensure is also instill into our children one day…years to come.   No matter the circumstances our parents and family will always be there for us as will we for them over this lifetime.

Love your family with all your heart…

Wedding: Seeing dad for the first time as a bride

After getting ready, we strolled downstairs for my dad to see me for the first time as a bride. I think it is just so special when you have this moment as a bride. You have been daddies little girl for your entire life and all of a sudden you become all grown up. I am the youngest of three and have seen both my brother and sister get married and always wondered what that feeling would be like. Well here it was upon me! I think my dad got a little glance at me in the lobby, while I believe my mom or brother quickly ushered him outside to make sure we had the official moment.

My dad and I have shared many amazing moments together, our annual dill pickle canning, gardening at the ‘farm’, taking a honeybee class (thinking we could actually have hives in our cities backyards….didn’t happen), and many more moments. I think the below moment will always stay at the top of the list. I was just so happy that entire day and I knew he felt the same way.

We then made our journey across the street to the James J Hill Reference Library where my soon to be husband was standing waiting for our ‘first look.’

Wedding: Getting Ready!

I am beyond excited to finally share our wedding photos. Yes, I have given glimpses of the design aspects, but here is the first chapter of the moments captured by J.Rau Photography. Every time I look at these photos a huge smile always falls across my face. This was truly the happiest day of my entire life. To have been surrounded by all my family and friends I love oh so dearly, and to walk down the aisle and say I DO to the man of my dreams.

I am getting Married! I kept thinking the entire day. My sister, maid of honor was besides herself the night before as we stayed at the St Paul Hotel. After counting sheep, and not being able to fall asleep, Jen sat up and started talking to me in the big sister calming manner no one can do except her. She instantly put me at ease, I was just SO excited to get married to Nick and could not fall sleep. I was never one bit nervous, I was just excited for Nick to see me in my dress, give him the official kiss, celebrate with our family and friends, and live happily ever after! It was going to be a party, and it for sure was a night to remember!

I love the bottom right photo. Me always fanning my face to hide the tears on the horizon while my mom tilts her head back in a laughing manner to keep the sweet tears inside.
